Building Trust

During this class you will learn why building trust is important and begin to understand ways to build trust within your organization.

Coaching Employees

When you complete this class you will have learned the benefits of coaching to your employees and organization; explored coaching techniques; and practiced applying those techniques.

Communicating Effectively

During the class you will understand what it means to be an active listener; you will learn how to become an active listener, how to express yourself directly, and how to express and receive anger.

Course covers such topics as: What are the advantages of effective communication?; The Communication Model; Listening Assessment; Active Listening; Direct Expression; Self-assessment of Communication Style; and Non-verbal Communication.

Communications Skills (Advanced)

When you complete this module you will have an understanding of how trust is related to communication, how and why rapport can be established, how different communication styles impact rapport, and how an organization’s communication style affects its ability to cooperate with other organizations.

Conflict Management

When you complete this class you will have developed an understanding of the causes of conflict and how conflict can be resolved within an organization. You will gain insight into your personal ‘hot buttons’ and identify how you generally respond to conflict. You will apply your insights to ‘conflict situations’ to become comfortable with new, and hopefully, more successful methods.

Course covers: Leadership and Emotional Intelligence (pre-requisite); Interpersonal Insights; Responses to Conflict; Communications Skills; Effective Listening; Valuing Differences in Others; and Resolving the Issue on its Merits.

Ethics & Accountability

When you complete this class, you will understand why ethics training is important, why some ethical decisions may not be clear cut, how to deal with situations that may violate your organizations Code of Ethics, and how to improve the ethics in your group.

Course Covers: Why do we train ethics?; Facilitating ethics training with your subordinates; Applying the Code of Ethics; and Characteristics of an ethical organization

Leadership I

This class consists of two modules. During module 1 you will explore the definitions of leadership; investigate various leadership philosophies and best practices; and how you and others respond to various leadership styles. In achieving self-awareness of yourself as a leader, you will identify your own strengths and weaknesses in leadership; identify what strengths are important to your leadership from multiple colleagues and understand characteristics of successful leaders.

During module 2 you will understand the 6 competencies of a good leader and achieve greater self-awareness and leadership skills by learning how to evaluate yourself on those competencies (Establishes and imparts clear intent and purpose; Uses appropriate techniques to energize others; Conveys the significance of the work; Maintains and enforces high professional standards; Balances work requirements with welfare of followers; and Creates and promulgates vision of the future.) You will understand how these competencies correlate with those of my organization. You will review results of your own Working Style Analysis (WSA) identify your own strengths and weaknesses in leadership; understand how to construct and use a Group WSA for your work area or organization; and create a personal action plan to capitalize on your strengths and improve other areas in your leadership style going forward.

Leadership II

Leadership In Crisis and High Stress Situations

As a leader you must be prepared to adapt your leadership style to any given situation. This is particularly true in crisis situations or conditions where you and those you lead are under great stress. Stress changes individual working styles and cognitive processes, resulting is significant effects on performance and situational awareness. As a leader you must be prepared for this and lead accordingly. At the end of this class you will understand the effects stress has on individuals and groups including problem solving and decision-making, communications, situational awareness development and sharing, and conflict management. You will explore how stress changes individual working styles and what styles are most flexible as well as those most susceptible to adverse effects of stress.

Making Meetings Work

During the class you will learn how to design and run an effective meeting; how to deal with difficult people/situations during meetings, and will share strategies for conducting successful meetings with others.

Course covers: Taking and scoring: ‘Testing your meeting IQ’ with Group dialogue on results; What makes  a meeting a failure or success; 5 key elements of a successful meeting; Meeting Basics; Creating a meeting; Commandments of a meeting; Tips for more effective meetings; Leading a meeting; The Key to Success; and Using learning styles to enhance your meeting.

 

Coaching and Mentoring

When you complete this class you will have learned the benefits of coaching to your employees and organization; explored coaching techniques; and practiced applying those techniques. The course covers What does good Coaching and Mentoring Look Like?; Power or Coaching and Mentoring; What is Important During Coaching and Mentoring? Application of Identifying Competencies; Good Coaching and Mentoring Practices; and Develop a Coaching Plan for your Workplace.

Organizational Culture

During this class as part of the overall module, you will develop an understanding of what constitutes organizational culture, learn how to identify the features that define a given organization’s culture, and acquire an understanding of the cultural features that define your own organization.

Course covers: Introduction to Cultural Differences; Values that define Culture and how they operate in social settings; What is the culture in your organization?; What motivates you?; and Qualitative measures of your organization’s culture.

Values and Ethics

When you complete this class  you will have learned how values, ethics, and trust are related; you will understand the impact of values and ethics on personal, professional, and global outcomes; and how to make and evaluate your decisions.

Course covers: Changes in Ethics Over the Decades (1960-Now); Ethics and Accountability in the Public Sector; and  Applying the Code of Conduct to Specific Situations Training
